6 Hints for Small Business Expansion

Are you saying that

you have big

ideas in your

Small Business?

Okay, maybe it’s time to get out of your shell!

Just because you have a small businesses you don’t have to focus all your attention on small steps  such as, how to pay the rent, how to pay employees, or tackle other expenses-- and ‘situations.’
Here's a series of easy steps to help you expand your business no matter what kind of business you are running:

So who else is in the pool with you?
1- Set Achievable goals for your Small Business: Set aside just an hour a day to go beyond the daily and set a goal that can actually put you in charge of the situation.

2- Get your Business Focused--Strategically that is: The first thing people think is how to set a wider net, a bigger goal, or seek funding from Small Business Administration (SBA) to expand their business.  Nope! Not a smart strategy!  You can’t possibly qualify for a loan to satisfy 6 billion customers of yours.

Hanging onto bubbles instead of swimming?

Look around you!  Who is exactly looking for the things you do? Narrow it down to bones to the skeleton (later on we can add muscles to it).  Who needs your specific product? Individuals? Other businesses? Government? Hospitals?
Too many competitors?  I’d say a lot of lessons can be learned from them.  They can even offer you some lessons for free if you know how to ask.

3- No, you are not there to collect a paycheck, so don't think small when planning a Business Strategy:  Even a little brook can get to the ocean, if it could set a strategy--and, 'No! You cannot possibly know everything about your business. If you do, you are thinking small.  To think big, you need to distant yourself from your business.  As the old saying goes..."People who are successful, rarely work in the business. They work ON their business."

4- Make it easy for your Customers to reach your business!  If I were Lao Tse,  I would say, Marketer no longer define the market;  market defines marketers.   Take a helicopter ride and see your business from up there.  How does it connect to your customers? Do they have to swim with sharks to get to your business, or they can travel across a scenic bridge to come over?  Do you have a welcoming committee with your customer’s name at the entrance, or they have to look at a big crowd to find you?

5- Don't try to survive in Business, expand it! Even in smallest businesses, you will have free resources to help you to find great customers.  Most businesses die out, because they only focused on surviving.

6- Outsource everything: It's like delegating responsibilities.  People with all talents are out there, ready to help at a fraction of a time it may take you.  Most of these firms offer free consulting for at least the first meeting (ours at Kian Finance Authority offer a great resource in form of a questionnaire so you can test yourself and see where you stand.   Help is out there for people who look.

Let’s move from Tao to Aladdin:
Ask, and you shall be given!

You can of course survive the power outage, or you can spend a week trying to fix it.  If were were suppose to do everything ourselves, we were still in the cave.  we don't need to tamper with the wiring needlessly.   we may get electrocuted, mistaking an IRS Form for a breaker.  One costs you everything you have, but the other a few hundred dollars.  Get that electrician!

Then again, it cost you much more if you try to do everything yourself. Good leaders always delegate everything!
